Episcopal priest and former Senator and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Danforth has written extensively on the negative use of religion to divide the country. In his second book on faith and politics, The Relevance of Religion: How Faithful People Can Change Politics, Danforth turns to positive strategies for people of faith. Danforth will share his views and take questions from participants in our next Faith in the City dialogue.

WHAT: Presentation, Q&A session, and book signing; light refreshments

WHO: Anyone interested in the role of religion in the public square, how people of faith can make a difference, community engagment, and social justice

John Danforth is the author of two books on faith and politics. He graduated from Princeton University, Yale Divinity School, and Yale Law School. Danforth practiced law in New York City and St. Lous before serving Missouri as attorney general and U.S. Senator. He went on to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and as a special envoy to Sudan. He is a partner in the law firm of Dowd Bennett LLP and lives in St. Louis.
