The Season of Anticipation in a Small Church

One critical stage, often overlooked and misunderstood, in the life of a congregation, is the “season of anticipation,” which a transition opens. William Bridges named this stage the “neutral zone.” It is a characteristic of all change, and, if identified and utilized, it can hold singular value for a congregation. The survey is used to both gauge the congregation’s reaction to change, and also to introduce the congregation to its potential.
