Bexley Seabury Announces Leadership Transition

Leadership Transition Ensures Continuity as Seminary Conducts Presidential Search

Chicago, IL, February 14, 2024 — Bexley Seabury Seminary announces that the Rev. Dr. Jason Fout has been appointed as Interim President, effective February 14, 2025. The Board of Directors has called Dr. Fout to serve in this role for an anticipated period of four to six months as the seminary embarks on a national search for its next president.

Dr. Fout, a respected leader and scholar, will provide strategic oversight and guidance during this transitional period, ensuring continuity in the seminary’s mission and operations. "I am honored to serve in this capacity and support Bexley Seabury as we move forward in this season of transition," said Dr. Fout.

To support the seminary’s academic programs during this transition, the Rev. Dr. Thomas Ferguson has been appointed as Acting Academic Dean, effective immediately. Dr. Ferguson will assume primary responsibility for academic affairs and serve as the point of contact for faculty and academic matters. Additionally, Lelia Fry will provide enhanced support in her role as Associate Academic Dean.
