The Journey Through Seminary Education

“The people who are attracted to a place like Bexley Seabury are creative and imaginative, and are actively engaged in thinking about what the church will look like in the future.”

- The Rev. Cody Maynus

A more integrated approach to theological education

Bexley Seabury’s distributed model of theological education extends educational opportunities by interconnecting our community, our academic environment, and our daily lives. This educational model of learning occurs in various locations through a blend of online and face-to-face interactions, enabling flexibility and accessibility for all students.

Bexley Seabury faculty and students can be located in different places, permitting instruction and learning to occur independently of time and place. This non-residential model offers courses and programs in a way that meets students where they are in their lives and journeys of faith.

Intensives

Held on campus (or at a designated site) for one week in January or Summer, intensives typically meet for five days. Travel intensives are usually 7-14 days. Students will stay connected online and may have assignments to do before, after, or in between on-site sessions.

Fully Online

Our fully online courses do not require visits to campus. They are as interactive as possible and often include both synchronous (“live,” in real-time) and asynchronous (on your own time) sessions.

Hybrids

Hybrids blend online teaching and learning (live, self-paced, or both) with in-person experiences to provide flexibility and optimize educational outcomes. In-person sessions meet on campus for one or two weekends in Fall and Spring or fewer than five weekdays in January and Summer.

Hyflex

Through our hyflex model, students have the option to join the course on-site or online. Some restrictions may apply.
